J.D. Salinger’s The Catcher in the Rye has been confusing teenagers, irritating English teachers, and creating lifelong Holden Caulfield fans (and haters) since 1951.

It’s funny, cynical, strange, sad, rebellious and somehow still feels completely modern more than 70 years later.
